Paddington Works

Designed to capture natural daylight, this auditorium needed a shading solution to allow 4k laser projections onto a 4-metre screen.

A multi-functional space, this state-of-the-art auditorium is designed to capture natural daylight so needed a shading solution to also enable the best viewing from its 4k laser projector onto a 4-metre screen.

Paddington Works is a co-working workspace in London for creatives. At its heart is a state-of-the-art auditorium which can seat 80 people. Designed to capture natural daylight to support creative thinking, it needed a shading solution to enable the best viewing from its 4k laser projector onto a 4-metre screen.

A total of fifteen SHY ZIP® electric blinds now shade the high and low level windows in the auditorium area, powered by SOMFY motors using remote controls. Solarblock heavy duty PVC blackout fabric was chosen to manage the heat and light ingress.

To complement the contemporary and inspiring décor, their headboxes were powder-coated to match the doors and windows’ RAL colours.

Specified and expertly installed by CD Blinds, they have been integrated into the building’s Creston automation system to allow the building’s managers to have maximum flexibility and control. Commenting, Chris Dickens of CD Blind said, “We were very pleased to get this project completed. Big thanks to Richard Steel & Gerrard Herring from SHY Shading for their superb products and support."
