Weatherproofing

SHY UK head boxes are designed for internal use. Zip blinds are installed successfully for external operation, but the head-boxes are not weatherproof and need to be protected from the effects of wind and rain. This is a customer responsibility. We can modify the boxes to be weatherproof, however we must be advised the blind will be used externally so this modification can be made.

Electrical safety

Ensure a competent electrician is employed for connection the electrical system of an external installation, and has passed it as safe for use.

Protection from wind

It is the installers responsibility to ensure end users are advised they must retract the blinds fully during high winds. The precise advice will depend on the individual situation.

Warranty

Our warranty does not cover Zip or Surfacta head boxes or the associated blind drive systems, including electric motors when used externally, if not protested from the effects of wind and rain or specifically modified for external use. Any work on these products, which would be covered by our warranty for unmodified products used for internal installations, is at our sole discretion.
