Protecting artwork from harmful light
Our blinds are not just for shading - sometimes they protect.
Sevenoaks library has a priceless tapestry - created by evacuees and local children during World War II.
How could it be kept on permanent display, yet protected from sunlight and internal lighting?
The Solution
SHY UK produced a full-size reproduction of the tapestry onto a blackout cloth - and mounted this onto a 5430mm electric roller. The blind is controlled by a timer so that when visitors want to view the original, they press a button for the blind to rise. After a period the blind lowers again.
Of course, SHY blinds are used conventionally in heritage buildings as well, in churches, and even a dome.
